The Best Dead by Daylight Gift

The Best Dead by Daylight Gift Idea

If you are looking for The Best Dead by Daylight gift idea, you came to the right place!

This article is meant to help you find the best gift when it comes to people who play Dead by Daylight. I found myself in this difficult position last December when me and my friends organized a Secret Santa. I had to come up with a gift that would fit the set budget but also be high quality.

To my surprise, I came to realize that there aren’t actually many gifts available that fit this specific category. All I could find was your classic overpriced keychains, mugs, T-shirts and these weird looking plush mascots. To be completely honest, they all look cheap to me. Or at least the materials look cheap for the prices that they are listed for.

For example I found this:

Am I going to pay 57$ for these? No way.
Why?
Because these keychains would feel underwhelming and cheap as a gift.

These type of keychains, mugs and T-shirts can be easily made at a personalized gift stand for half the price and you get it straight away. Or at least in 1-2 days depending on how big the order is. It is really difficult to make a personalized gift of this kind because they tend to be regarded as gifts on the go. By that I mean that they scream “a quick gift because I forgot about it”, “let’s slap an image of this thing that they really like on a mug in hopes that they like it”. This is why I tend to avoid this kind of approach when it comes to gift giving. They give off the impression that they seek to avoid. Quite ironic in my opinion.

Therefore, I went back to research more options… and then, it hit me.

Lately, there has been a rising trend on TikTok and Instagram Reels that I kept getting videos of: crocheted gifts. And so, the more I thought about this idea, the more it made sense: crocheted items feel personal and are highly customizable. This is where my journey to the best Dead By Daylight Gift started.

My friend liked to play killer, more specifically “The Oni”.

And so with this key information, I started looking for a local small business on Instagram. I chose one based on the quality of their products from their posts and then I contacted them via direct message. I told them that I would like a crocheted plush about the size of a regular teddy bear and gave them some reference photos of The Oni.

They asked me about the materials (I didn’t even know I could do that btw, they had to explain to me all the available options) to which I responded with: the body to be made out of soft material but the armor to be made out of a harder one. We then made a deal.

It depends from business to business generally, but from my encounters it can be:
  • You can pay when you receive the product
  • You can pay before you receive the product
  • You need to pay % in advance so you and the artist can establish trust in order to avoid scammers

I personally went with the 3rd option when it came to the deal with my chosen local small business. They told me that the plush is ready to be shipped in about 2-3 working days, but before shipping, they will send me some photos of the plush during the production process to make sure that everything is okay.

This was the initial crocheted plush and I really loved how it turned out, but somehow I could not shake this feeling that something is missing.

So, I responded back with a thankful message for everything and how amazing it looks but asked if they could also add a little bit more armor on the hands similar to the one on its hips because it looked kind of empty, to which they agreed.
To my surprise after 2-3 hours they added them!

The best thing about this kind of gift, as I mentioned, is that is highly customizable. You can:
  • choose the size of it
  • you can put some initials on it
  • maybe you can put something in it like sweets or a gift card
  • change its colors
  • add extra items, maybe something related to the person you are giving it to (cup of coffee, beer, flowers, etc…)

You can request anything as long as the artist is able to do it, be it a killer or survivor.

The whole process took about 4 to 5 days, including my research and it was the best decision that I ever made when it comes to gaming related gifts. It feels new, creative and sentimental.

Now that you know the entire process, I recommend thinking about this option when you have to make a gift related to Dead by Daylight.

If this idea does not fit the time frame or the person that you are giving the gift to, I would recommend to get something from the official Dead by Daylight shop.
